Thanksgiving week

A traditional Thanksgiving.
My first Thanksgiving & it was good!
(Actually it's all about food...
no just kidding :P)

IB Kids in school ...
How they behave when no teachers are watching them.

I tried to make fried rice again for my lovely mom,
but we didn't have any onions.
So I ended up making vietnamese "com nam" with fish sauce
& soy sauce, called Tammy rice wrap!
Fortunately she looooved it.

Made in biology class.
The heart - treat it well, no matter whose it is.
Appreciate it. A heart for all of you <3

Carving the turkey - two wonderful people:
Ronny & Carol.
(Ups, eyes are closed :P)

Turkey!

Kale salad.

Traditional southern cornbread dressing

Southern sweet potato casserole.

Selfmade candy turkey by two beauitful ladies: Carol & Susie
- My sweet moms big sisters.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Dipped chocolate marshmellow turkeys & my iPod.

YUMMY!!!
Finally fooood.

That's me.

Southern pecan pie.

Dinner: Chicken salad on a bagel
(Apperently people don't eat it like that here, but I do...)

Breakfast: Cereals with fruits & yoghurt and coffee.
After that, we went 2hours riding our bikes 15 miles (= 24.14km),
burned up 1000 calories we ate the day before,
and ate again at a fastfood restaurant  called Arby's...
gaining back the calories...

After that, we went "Black Friday" shopping, which is the day right after Thanksgiving. Almost everything is on sale on that day (still expensive at all the places though). Mom & I went shopping for about 4hours? Couldn't really find anything except some rainboots for her and an American Eagle sweater for me. So at least we did burn up more calories.

The next day
Hiking in the mountains.

Ready to hike!
What I've worn? Headband ... and ..
tights, jeans, fleece pants + 2 pairs of socks.
Undershirt, longsleeves shirt, jacket, hiking jacket.
I could barely move & felt like a rolling ball...
Roll tide ?

Chattahoochee national forest in Georgia.
Mom's sister Susie & I.

Big foot's big foot & mine!

We hiked 2 miles (= 3.22km) for 1.30hours.
Burned up  700 calories.
I exercise here more than I do in Germany.
But I also eat more...of course.

A real bear on a tree.
Me "Hey mom, is that a backpack on a tree?"
Mom "Oh shoot...it's  a bear"

Those two women (55&66 years) have great energy.
They have more strentgh than I do.
And I am a teenager who is 17 years old.
Shame on me...

So exhausted...

An American house during Christmas time.

Dinner with the Sorrow's.

Rucola-spinach salad with Avocado & pine nuts.

Spaghetti Bolognese a la Carol Sorrow.

Giving thanks to...

So as y'all can see, I spent Thanksgiving with my mom's family in Atlanta, Georgia. I've never really said that, but I am so grateful that my parents gave me the opportunity to do an exchange year in the USA, learn the new culture, meet new people and to improve my English. Thanks to my sister Honey, who gave me the idea to actually do that.
I am also thankful that I got into my host family, which is only a single woman with a cat, Louis, and a fish, Bupp, but still, I could not imagine something other and better than this. I love her & her sister's family, they are all so kind, friendly and lovely to me.
I am glad that I could meet so many nice people here. I know it's been only three months, but I am sure that I found people, who I can call "friends", because I know that I can trust them & they would help me whenever I need them.
Of course I haven't forgotten about my friends in Germany. Being away from y'all is not easy for me, trust me. I had a hard time when I just came here & you guys were still by my side, but as time passes by, I can realize who my real friends are, who actually touch base with me or check on me. I am glad that I have all these things. Thank you bo me Thinh Nga, chi Hanh, mom Pat & her family and all my friends who support and care for me. I love you all.

Ngo, Ngoc Anh Tam aka Tammy Ngo.
